About
Corrie Francis Parks is an inventor of animation techniques. Adopting an investigative studio practice where subject collides with substance, each project builds upon the discoveries made in the previous, grappling with themes of individuality, environment, scale, and time.
Research interests
My research interests include the integration of traditional and digital mediums in animation, specifically related to under the camera techniques. Combining the physical materials of sand and paint with digital effects in an indistinguishable collage, the black and white purity of traditional sand animation becomes a flurry of color and dimensionality. I strive to be not only relevant but accessible to a general audience by creating emotive moments entwined in a narrative and materiality. The results of my studio research manifest not only in short films, but in expanded animation projects that involve projection mapping, site-specific installations, augmented reality and collage.
Teaching interests
I am interested in growing artists that recognize and create innovative animated movement through and understanding of animation fundamentals, innovative and experimental production methods, and artistic entrepreneurship.
