About
Dr. Schultz is a clinical psychologist who is interested in the prevention of behavior problems in children. He has worked extensively in the world of early childhood in both community and educational settings. His research has focused on children’s social and emotional intelligence, family settings that promote this intelligence, and how this intelligence helps a child navigate their social world. He also co-developed a preschool curriculum to teach young children social and emotional skills. His current work focuses on training home visitors, who visit with pregnant mothers and mothers of newborns. He is Director of the UMBC Home Visiting Training Center. The goal is to educate mothers and family members to create as supportive an environment as possible for early child development.
Research interests
Dr. Schultz' current research focuses on the evaluation of the home visiting training programs.
