Eric Stokan is a Detroit native. While there, he became increasingly interested in understanding how state and local governments grow and decline and how they manage that process through economic development policy tools.
Research interests
Social equity, inequality, urban economic development, economic development, public finance, policy-making processes, data science, climate change, climate planning, text analytics, sustainability, AI, LLMs, computational social science, and program evaluation.
Teaching interests
Urban problems and policy, policy-making processes, state and local government, and research methods, computational social science, AI.
