Keith D Evans
About
Mr. Evans received a B.S. in Nuclear Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1979, a M.S. in Physics from American University in 1984, a M.S. in Meteorology at the University of Maryland in 1997, and a B.A. In Ancient Studies from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. He has worked as a physicist on solar energy systems, submarine systems, and cruise missiles at the Vitro Corp. He has worked on the first Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSM/I) instrument, on satellite subsystems testing, and in acoustics as a contractor at the Naval Research Laboratory. He wrote the software to retrieve data from the Broad Band X-ray Telescope, which flew on the Space Shuttle as a contractor at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center and he received two Group Awards for this effort. Mr. Evans began working with lidar in 1991, performing various atmospheric studies, including: atmospheric temperature, spectral and multifractal analyses of atmospheric water vapor data. He is currently employed by the Joint Center for Earth Systems Technology of the University of Maryland Baltimore County as a Research Analyst. His current tasks include maintaining the volcanic so2 web pages and scientific programming and data analysis of GPS and ILRS using NASA satellite data.
Research interests
To determine the radiative impact of trace gases in the atmosphere and its impact on aviation and human safety. Fine tune the Terrestrial Reference frame using satellite laser ranging info from around the world. To engage in some kind of archaeological project.
