About
With nearly three decades of higher education teaching experience, Sy’s interests include HCI and Presentation Theory and is, in general, energized by the need to support effective communication. His research has examined situational impairments as well as Assistive Technology and supporting older adults. Sy received a Ph.D. and a master’s degree in Human-Centered Computing from UMBC. He has also earned an MS in Finance (University of Baltimore) as well as bachelor’s degrees in Computer Information Systems (Stevenson University) and Psychology (Dickinson College). In addition to his domestic pedagogical and research roles, Sy is actively involved in developing and deploying study abroad courses so that the next generation of leaders can prepare for the diverse world of international practices and cultures.
