About
Steven M. Bates is an inorganic and stable isotope geochemist and lab manager with nearly 20 years of experience in geochemical and mass spectrometry applications, methods and lab operations. He has specific expertise in operation, maintenance and reapir of inductively coupled plasma and stable isotope mass spectrometers in the study of carbon, oxygen, nitrogen and sulfur Isotope biogeochemistry; redox cycling of major and trace elements; metal isotope biogeochemistry (Fe, Mo, Mn); micropaleontology; oxygen isotope palaeothermometry and paleoclimatology. Mr. Bates has further experience in Gas Pyrolysis Chromotography Mass Spectrometry (PY-GC-MS), Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy (CRDS), Infrared Absorption Spectrophotometry.
