About
Dr. Tania Lizarazo is an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) in MLLI and the Global Studies Program. She is also the Director of the Minor in Critical Disability Studies. In MLLI, she contributes to the Spanish Area, departmental core courses, and the MA in Intercultural Communication. She is Affiliate Faculty of Gender, Women’s + Sexuality Studies, and the PhD Program in Language, Literacy & Culture. She received her Ph.D. in Latin American Literature and Cultures, with emphases in Feminist Theory & Research and Studies in Performance & Practice from the University of California, Davis in 2015.
Research interests
Community-engaged research, trauma and memory in Colombia, digital storytelling, social movements, transnational feminisms, embodied knowledge, Latin American cultural studies, disability studies.
Teaching interests
Latin American cultural studies, critical disability studies, public humanities, audiovisual production, feminist theory, digital humanities, critical intercultural communication, and collaborative research methods such as feminist ethnography, community-engaged research, and digital storytelling.
