Join us as pianist Grigorios Zamparas performs masterworks spanning the Romantic and Impressionist eras. The program features Franz Liszt’s 1849 dramatic “Dante Sonata,” a formidable piece inspired by the Divine Comedy, Ludwig van Beethoven’s 1804 “Waldstein” Sonata, known for its grand scope and technical brilliance, and selections from Maurice Ravel’s Miroirs, a vivid five-movement suite written in 1904–05 and dedicated to his contemporaries in the Parisian artistic circle.
Described by the American Record Guide as possessing “formidable technique,” Grigorios Zamparas is a versatile pianist, chamber musician, and recitalist who has performed internationally across Europe, South Korea, Brazil, and the United States. A Yamaha Artist and recording artist with eight albums for Centaur Records, he has appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras and at prominent global festivals. Zamparas currently serves as Professor of Music and chair of the music department at The University of Tampa, where he has been recognized for his scholarship and creative work. He holds a DMA from the University of Miami and degrees from Indiana University and the University of Indianapolis.
